To support this mission, we offer the ESUBE Diploma, a certification program that recognizes spine surgeons who have demonstrated advanced proficiency and expertise in Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy (UBE). This certification is designed to identify and acknowledge surgeons who have attained a high level of skill and experience, establishing them as specialists in the field.
ESUBE Diploma Requirements
To qualify for the ESUBE Diploma and be recognized as a Certified Specialist in Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Clinical Experience
A minimum of 100 biportal endoscopic spine surgery cases successfully performed. This should include a range of procedures, demonstrating the surgeon’s versatility and expertise in different spinal conditions.
Expertise in Lumbar Approaches
Proven experience in various lumbar approaches, including the treatment of lumbar disc herniations and spinal stenosis. Candidates should be comfortable performing these procedures and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the anatomy and pathology of the lumbar spine.
Proficiency in Lumbar Arthrodesis
The ability to perform lumbar arthrodesis using biportal endoscopy, indicating advanced skills in minimally invasive techniques for spinal fusion.
Experience in Thoracic and Cervical Approaches
While the primary focus is on lumbar surgery, candidates should also have some degree of experience in thoracic and cervical approaches using biportal endoscopy. This includes familiarity with the techniques and considerations specific to these regions of the spine.

Application Process
1. Initial Application
Express your interest in obtaining the ESUBE Diploma by sending an email to esubesociety@gmail.com. Include an outline of your surgical experience and a case log documenting the 100 biportal endoscopic procedures you have performed.
2. Case Review and Verification
Submit a detailed case log demonstrating your experience in various lumbar approaches, including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and lumbar arthrodesis. Additionally, provide evidence of your experience in thoracic and cervical procedures.
3. Peer Review
Your application and case log will undergo a peer review process by the ESUBE Certification Committee. This may include an interview or additional case discussions to assess your proficiency and knowledge in UBE.
4. Certification Decision
Upon successful review and approval by the ESUBE Certification Committee, you will be awarded the ESUBE Diploma, formally recognizing you as a Certified Specialist in Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy.
